Isn't that the inalienable consequence of society? People that can add a lot of value will get to live in the desirable areas, whereas people who can't will have to move elsewhere. Do people have a right to live in their home town? What if their home town is a global financial center?

Your "society" is made of people and rules, people make choices, people vote for rules, if enough people tells you their situation sucks it might swing the pendulum in the other direction. "life is life" has never been a very strong line to defend.
At some point we'll have to go back to being human and stop considering money as the main driving force of every single things we do in life.
