Russia recognised the ukrainian borders in 1994 in exchange for them giving up their nukes.



14 nations have been added to NATO since 1994 [1], most of them former Warsaw Pact countries.

It's hotly debated but alleged that the US gave verbal assurances NATO wouldn't expand east in discussions about German reunification.

And Finland has a petition from the population that is requesting to join NATO.

It sure looks like it's more a fault of Russia than NATO.


you're forgetting that those countries are not mere pawns...they have their own will and decided to join NATO and EU out of own accord, precisely because they knew how dangerous Russia is.
