Not sure where you've got the high price tag, it's priced starting at USD2,499 in the US. Recently it was selling at a steep discount at £899 in the UK [1].

The 2nd gen ThinkPad X1 Fold release is just around the corner [2]. Will be very interesting to compare the 2nd gen X1 Fold with the new Asus Zenbook Fold.
