Ask HN: Is it worth writing informative books any more?

I'm thinking of some writing projects that would be fun to do. But I'm wondering if this whole category of literature is essentially dead because of ChatGPT.

What are your thoughts on how ChatGPT effects publishing going forwards?

It's still a finite box [1]. Go ahead and write!

Humans still have the edge of lived experiences, irrational stubbornness, and having a quantum computer in wetware [2].

We'll try anything, go anywhere, and advance the species in terrifying and awesome ways. That in itself makes the writing worthwhile.

This is super motivating. Thank you tbh. Good post.

I think maybe you should spend a few hours with ChatGPT because that will answer your question.

ChatGPT will kill literature for some people, but literature was not of much use to those people in the first place so not much will change.
