I'm experimenting with a new model for CS education using advisors who follow and adapt to students' interests. The core idea is that students should learn how to learn early and to self-direct their own education. However, they need support for when they get stuck.
At the moment, I'm looking to work with students who have deep interests in CS/tech, but want something more dynamic than a fixed curriculum program.
Experience:
* Self-taught programmer.
* Worked on data engineering at a large hospital.
* Ex-VC - worked on technology due-diligence.
* Started independent R&D lab (www.ithron.com).
* Designed this model based on my experiences hiring engineers.
Engagement model:
* Work with students 1 on 1
* ideal age range is 16-21,
* 2-3 hours of meetings per week + 15-20 hours of self-directed time
* 3 month batches, can be extended to a full-year.
