The sheer naivete to think the United States has any legal or moral obligation to respect the privacy of the global population.
 help

Legal, no. Moral, absolutely. I mean, aren't other people human?

Under their moral framework, Israel has no moral obligation against bombing the shit out of Palestine.

Other people are human and I agree that violence used against non-Americans overseas should be used only with very serious consideration and with checks and safeguards (albeit not with the same absolute protections as when used domestically).

But privacy? Yeah, no, if it benefits the safety or interests of US even slightly to know what the world is thinking, seeing, and planning, I have zero qualms using all tools at our disposal.

Do you have any qualms about Chinese surveillance of the USA? Is it cool for them to gather info on you?

What is a qualm? It's their job to do it, and our job to stop them from doing it.

Does that apply to all moral obligations?

Does Iran have a moral obligation to not nuke the global population? What about Israel and Palestine?
